There were many reasons why I was looking forward to seeing the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) at Lime Rock Park this year. Among them was the fact that this would be the final appearance of the series at the 1.53 mile road course, as the ALMS and Grand-Am Rolex series will be merging at year's end to form the United SportsCar Racing series. As a consequence of the merger, the P1 prototype class will be going away, so this was going to be the last chance to see these machines compete at Lime Rock Park. Another reason why I looking forward to this weekend was the opportunity to see the DeltaWing race car in person. It is such an innovative car, and unlike anything we have seen before, that I was anxious to get a close up look at it. Finally, with a field comprised of so many talented drivers, it is always a pleasure to be able to see them at work behind the cockpit.
Many thanks to the American Le Mans Series for their annual trip to the northeast, and to Lime Rock Park for hosting the event. It has been a wonderful 10 years!
Please enjoy my selection of photos from the weekend.
